Fencing Disciplines

Modern Olympic fencing is contested with three distinct weapons, each with its own rules, target area and style. The Oman Fencing Committee actively develops national competitors in all three disciplines.

Foil

6 athletes

A light thrusting weapon. Points are scored only with the tip, targeting the torso. Foil rewards patience, timing and priority.

The heaviest blade. The entire body is a valid target and the first to hit scores, épée rewards precision, patience and defensive discipline.
