Who we are

The Oman Fencing Committee (OFC) operates this website at fencing.om and its admin workspace. For any data-protection question, write to [email protected].

What we collect

We collect only what we need to deliver the service. This includes: name, email, phone, club affiliation, athlete profile data, photos and results for registered athletes and officials; email address and locale for newsletter subscribers; basic diagnostics (IP, user-agent, timestamps) for rate-limiting and abuse prevention; and cookies required to keep you signed in.

Why we use it

Lawful bases: contract (registering you as an athlete/official/coach), legitimate interest (running national competitions and publishing results), and consent (newsletter, marketing emails, photography of minors). We never sell personal data.

Who we share with

We share limited data with the Oman Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Culture Sports & Youth, the International Fencing Federation (FIE), the Fencing Confederation of Asia (FCA) and competition organisers only when necessary for sanctioning, eligibility, and anti-doping. We use vetted sub-processors (email delivery, WhatsApp notifications) bound by data-protection contracts.

How long we keep it

Athlete registration and results: retained permanently as official historical record. Newsletter subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe. Diagnostic logs: 90 days. Meeting minutes and governance records: retained per Oman Olympic Committee archival standards.

Your rights

You have the right to: access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, withdraw consent (for consent-based processing), request deletion where lawful, and object to direct marketing. To exercise any right, email the Secretariat. We respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We set only essential cookies — your session (to keep you signed in), your preferred language, and CSRF tokens for forms. We do not run third-party ad tracking.

Minors

Children under 18 may register only with verifiable consent from a parent or guardian. Publication of a minor's name and photo in news, galleries, or social media requires explicit consent which may be withdrawn at any time.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Admin access is protected by OTP or password, session cookies are HTTP-only and SameSite=Lax, and sensitive tokens are stored hashed. Access logs are reviewed for anomalies.

Changes to this policy

We post any material change on this page with a new effective date. For significant changes that affect your rights, we also notify registered members by email.
