Accessibility Statement
Effective 2026-04-21
Our commitment
The Oman Fencing Committee wants every member, athlete, official, parent and spectator, with any ability, to be able to use fencing.om independently. We aim for conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA across the public site and the admin workspace.
What we do
- Full keyboard navigation, every interactive element reachable by Tab, operable by Enter or Space
- Visible focus ring on all focusable elements
- Semantic HTML landmarks: header, nav, main, footer
- Colour contrast ratios meet WCAG AA (4.5:1 body text, 3:1 large text)
- All images include descriptive alt text; decorative images have empty alt
- Full RTL mirror (Arabic) using logical CSS properties, never "right"/"left" hardcoded
- Language set on every page via <html lang> and hreflang alternates
- Forms have visible labels, accessible error messages, and inline help
- No auto-playing video or audio; no content flashes more than 3 times per second
- Page titles are unique and descriptive
Known limitations
- Historic PDF minutes from 2019–2022 may not be fully OCR-accessible; re-mediation is in progress.
- Some archival photos lack detailed alt text; we are backfilling captions through an editorial pass.
- Live streams hosted on third-party platforms follow those platforms' accessibility features, which we cannot guarantee.
Testing & review
Accessibility is reviewed on every release using automated tools (Lighthouse, axe-core) plus manual keyboard and screen-reader testing on VoiceOver and NVDA. Reviews are logged in our engineering board and visible via the decisions log when policy-relevant.
Found a barrier?
If any part of the site or admin is hard to use with assistive technology, tell us. We commit to respond within 5 business days and to fix reasonable issues on the next release.
