Code of Conduct

مدوّنة السلوك

Effective 2026-04-22

Who this applies to

Every person who represents the Oman Fencing Committee on or off the piste, athletes, coaches, referees, club officials, volunteers, parents and guardians, board members and staff. Visitors at our events are expected to follow the spectator rules posted at each venue.

Our values

Respect for opponents, officials and teammates. Safety first, in training and competition. Integrity, no cheating, doping or manipulation of results. Inclusion regardless of gender, club, club rank, ability or background. Humility in victory, grace in defeat.

What we expect

Arrive on time, in proper kit, follow the referee's call, salute your opponent and the referee before and after each bout, report injuries and equipment faults immediately, use the changing rooms and media areas appropriately, and speak respectfully in team messaging and social media whether posting as yourself or on behalf of a club.

Prohibited conduct

Physical aggression or threats of violence; discriminatory, sexual or degrading language; any form of harassment online or in person; deliberately damaging venue or opponent equipment; appearing at training or competition under the influence of alcohol or non-medical substances; disclosing other members' private contact details; or using minors' images without parental consent.

Safeguarding minors

Coaches and officials may never be alone with an athlete under 18 behind closed doors. All minor-adult communication stays on official channels (club WhatsApp groups, OFC email) and keeps a second adult copied. Our full safeguarding policy is at /safeguarding.

Anti-doping

We comply with WADA and the Oman National Anti-Doping Committee. Athletes are responsible for what enters their body. Check every supplement and medication with our medical officer before use, and read /anti-doping for TUE procedures and testing pool rules.

Reporting and enforcement

Report concerns to your club secretary, any OFC committee member, or directly to [email protected]. The Disciplinary Sub-Committee reviews every complaint within seven days. Sanctions range from a warning letter to suspension and, in serious cases, referral to the Ministry or national police. All decisions are logged on our public decisions log.

Agreement

Signing the registration form or renewing a licence is acceptance of this Code. A short acknowledgement is also emailed to every new member at activation. Clubs may add their own house rules, they may not weaken these standards.
