Dubai: Oman fencing team added three medals, two gold and one silver, on Tuesday at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, to conclude the competitions with 11 medals, which is part of the first edition of GCC Youth Games, being held in UAE from April 16 to May 2.
Oman national fencing team was able to snatch the gold medal in the men's epee, a silver medal in men's foil, and gold in women's epee.
The men's team included Ahmed bin Anwar Kaskas, Said bin Khaled al Shuaibi, Ali bin Hamad al Busaidy and Ammar bin Mohammed al Azizi. The women's team included Jana bint Mohammed al Sharjiyah, Salma bint Said al Dughaishiyah, Ghazal bint Yousef al Falitiyah and Israa bint Saif al Siyabiyah.
The Oman fencers had claimed eight medals on Monday. Ahmed Kaskas snatched gold, while Said al Shuaibi claimed bronze in the men's epee. Ahmed Kaskas won silver in the men's foil while Said al Shuaibi and Ali al Busaidy bagged a bronze each. Jana al Sharji won the gold in the women's epee and Salma al Dughaishi won the bronze. Israa al Siyabi grabbed silver in the women's foil.
Oman's overall medal tally rose to 58 medals across 15 sports, collecting 18 gold, 13 silver and 27 bronze medals.
