Muscat: Oman Fencing Committee (OFC) signed a series of agreements with domestic clubs including Ahli Sidab, Oman Club, Muscat, Masirah, Qurayat and Salalah. The signing ceremony took place at Seeb Stadium in the presence of Khalid bin Said al Shuaibi, Chairman of OFC, and representatives from the clubs.
OFC officials chose Saturday, September 10 — World Fencing Day — to sign the contracts. The theme of this year's celebration was "Fencing is for Life."
The agreements are part of OFC's efforts to spread fencing across the Sultanate, enhancing the sport within the community through national teams and cooperation with clubs to prepare national fencers for forthcoming international and local assignments under the guidance of coach Hisham Karshood.
The partnership will enable OFC to prepare and develop fencers on behalf of the clubs, who will then represent their clubs in national championships including the Oman Fencing Open Championships. OFC officials stated they will negotiate with additional clubs to sign more agreements, increasing participation in local events and tournaments.
