Muscat: Oman's fencers delivered an impressive performance at the Mediterranean Fencing Championship hosted by the Jordanian Fencing Federation, claiming five medals including one gold, one silver and three bronze.
Young fencer Israa al Siyabi led the medal haul, claiming first place in the foil category at the junior level — a significant individual achievement for one of Oman's most promising young fencers. Ahmed Kaskas added a silver medal in foil and a bronze in epee, while Said al Shuaibi claimed two bronze medals in foil and epee.
OFC Chairman Khalid al Shuaibi commended the performance: "This result demonstrates the growing quality and depth of Oman's fencing programme. Each international competition builds our team's experience and raises the bar for what we can achieve regionally."
Head coach Hisham Karshoud highlighted the performance of individual athletes: "Israa's gold is particularly meaningful — it shows the investment in our young players is paying off. We are building real depth in our squad across all disciplines and age groups."
The medal haul at the Mediterranean Championship came as part of a packed schedule of international competitions for the Oman national fencing team, building momentum ahead of the West Asian Fencing Championships in Jordan.
