Muscat: The Oman Fencing Committee (OFC) organised the first Oman Fencing Championship at the Indoor Hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex — the first national championship since the formation of OFC.

The event featured 40 fencers representing seven clubs: Muscat, Oman Club, Al Nahdha, Qurayat, Al Shabab, Ahli Sidab and Salalah. Competitions included the Men's Epee category and Ladies Foil category, targeting all junior and youth fencers.

Preliminary rounds and finals took place in morning sessions, with the awards ceremony held in the evening. Five Omani umpires officiated the competitions, while head coach Hisham Karshood served as the technical head of the event.

"The purpose of this initial edition is to provide a suitable competitive environment for the fencers, give new fencers their first taste of competition, and identify potential candidates for the national teams," OFC officials stated.

Coach Karshood's presence was noted as highly significant to evaluate fencer performances, reinforce strengths, and improve areas for development, setting the foundation for Oman's growing fencing programme.
