Muscat: Sayyid Khalid al Busaidy, OOC Chairman, met with the Oman Fencing Committee headed by Khalid al Shuaibi, along with Secretary-General Taha al Kishry, OOC board members, and the national team coach.

The OOC Chairman appreciated the members of Oman Fencing Committee for their efforts in registering as an official member of the International Fencing Federation (FIE). He expressed hopes for Oman's progress in fencing by increasing the number of players and achieving advanced positions in international competitions.

The committee reviewed its highlights since establishment in January 2019: setting up headquarters at Seeb Sports Stadium, opening a dedicated training hall, and attracting talented players from schools in cooperation with Oman School Sports Association to form the national team under international coach Hisham Karshoud.

The national team participated in camps and championships, winning their first gold and bronze medals at international competitions in Kuwait and UAE. A strategic development plan for 2019-2024 was presented, covering upcoming camps and Gulf, Arab and international championships.

Challenges including the lack of infrastructure were discussed, and solutions were developed within existing possibilities to advance the sport in the Sultanate.
