Card escalation rules
- Yellow: warning. Second yellow in the same group → automatic red.
- Red: penalty touch for the opponent. Stays on the fencer's record.
- Black: expulsion from the tournament. May also trigger federation sanctions.
- Groups 3 and 4 usually start at red or black, there is no yellow warning for brutality or doping.
