Muscat: The Ministry of Sports Affairs established the Oman Fencing Committee (OFC), alongside the Oman Squash Committee and Oman Badminton Committee. The ministerial decision was approved by Shaikh Saad Mohammed al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs, affirming the ministry's strategy to develop individual sports in the Sultanate.

The new committees are expected to open new horizons for youth to develop their skills and participate at regional and international levels to raise the Sultanate's flag and achieve top results.

The Oman Fencing Committee is headed by Khalid al Shuaibi with membership of Khalid al Rajhi, Rumaitha al Busaidi, Ahmed al Adawi and Sameera al Shukaili as secretary general. The ministerial decision calls on the committee to prepare the necessary regulations to organise the structure of this sports body.

The formation of the committee marks the beginning of a new era for fencing in Oman, with ambitions to build a competitive national team that can represent the Sultanate at the highest international levels.
