Oman Fencing Committee Honours the National Team's GCC Games Doha 2026 Medallists

اللجنة العُمانية للمبارزة تُكرّم أبطال المنتخب الوطني الفائزين بميداليات ألعاب الخليج الرابعة بالدوحة

Muscat, 16 May 2026 — The Oman Fencing Committee held an official honour ceremony on Saturday morning to receive the national fencing team upon its return to the Sultanate of Oman from the 4th GCC Games in Doha, where the Sultanate's fencers secured a total of five medals across two consecutive days of competition: two gold and three bronze. Members of the committee, alongside senior officials of the federation, presented certificates of appreciation to the medallists and to the technical staff in recognition of the result.

According to the Oman Fencing Committee, the ceremony was attended by the medal-winning athletes, the head coach, members of the squad including Saeed Bin Khalid Al Shuaibi, and members of the federation's leadership, who marked the occasion with a traditional Omani reception. Bouquets were presented to the returning athletes, and certificates of appreciation were handed to each medallist by senior committee figures in the presence of the wider delegation.

A double gold and three bronzes from Doha

The Sultanate's medal haul in Doha was led by national-team fencer Israa Bint Al Saif Al Siyabi, who claimed two gold medals at the championship: one in the women's individual épée event and a second in the women's individual foil event on the following day. Back-to-back gold medals in two different weapons at a single Gulf Games is a rare technical signal, and the committee noted in its remarks at the ceremony that the result places Israa among the most decorated Omani fencers of the 2026 season.

The men's individual épée event produced two bronze medals for the Sultanate: Ahmed Anwar Keskes and Al Harith Bin Salem Al Harthi each closed their day on the bronze step of the podium. The men's individual foil event added a third bronze for Ali Al Busaidi. Certificates of appreciation were presented to each of the three bronze medallists during the ceremony.

Recognition for the coaching staff

A certificate of thanks and appreciation was also presented to Head Coach Hisham Ali Karshood in recognition of his leadership of the national team across the championship's preparation and competition phases. The Oman Fencing Committee stated that the technical results in Doha reflect the continued development of the national programme and the depth of the coaching staff's preparation.

Forward outlook

The Oman Fencing Committee extended its appreciation to the Oman Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and to Sohar International, the federation's strategic partner, for their continued support of the national programme. The national team's calendar continues with upcoming regional and continental tournaments, and the federation confirmed that preparation for the next phase of the international season is already under way.
